Tanqueray Gin is an icon in the gin category, synonymous with quality, credibility, and sophistication solidifying its position as the share leader in the gin category. The new brand platform has reimagined this classic gin to be relevant for a younger more diverse drinker. Major cultural activations such as the first ever Diageo NAM Netflix partnership with Tanqueray x Bridgerton, integration with the House of Gucci film, multi-year influencer partnerships with Joe Jonas, Stanley Tucci and Rachel Zoe and a return to experiential such as Art Basel has also helped the brand reclaim its position in the cultural conversation. Despite the positive momentum there is still so much opportunity ahead. Our London Dry Gin needs to continue to be stabilized and recruit the next generation of drinkers. As the gin category continues to premiumize, the role of T10 will become increasingly important and needs to be scaled for growth. Additionally more accessible propositions through flavor are also growing, and Tanqueray’s flavor portfolio will set the brand up to capitalize on this opportunity. Additionally, the gin category is growing more and more multifaceted with Ultra-Premium brands leading growth, so managing our portfolio with Aviation and the category strategy will be critical to look for innovation/NTW opportunities.
This Director role will be essential in helping us define the future of Gin for Diageo NAM. We need a clear strategy to recruit new and lapsed consumers by driving category and brand reappraisal for Tanqueray, while also charting the road map for expansive growth. The ideal candidate will be able to define, develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the gin portfolio, while also defining and delivering growth drivers for Tanqueray.
We are looking for a highly strategic, creative and commercially oriented leader who can challenge the status quo and create belief behind the possibilities for the Gin category. This person will be responsible for collaborating across cross-functional teams and influencing multiple internal and external partners. The ideal candidate will also be incredibly resourceful and bring out of the box thinking on how to enhance impact for the investment.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing long term strategy for Diageo to drive growth for the gin category
  • Define innovation and new to world pipeline and build the case to support the plan
  • Develop, implement and optimize growth drivers for Tanqueray trademark.
  • Optimize growth drivers for T10, flavors and can portfolio to accelerate growth.
  • Accountable for the implementation of marketing business plans in support of annual volume objectives.
  • Lead agencies to develop and implement creative assets to support communications, experiential, Trade activation and POS, Cultural partnerships, PR/Influence.
  • Partner with Commercial Planning & Activation and Commercial partners to set goals, define tools/investment priorities
  • Deliver relevant sell-in information to Divisions and Distributor partners through presentations, sell in materials and in market visits
Experience
  • 8+ years of marketing experience in Consumer Packaged Goods company, Luxury, or creative Agency. MBA preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated capability in developing creative solutions to complex business problems with limited resources.
  • Effective at partnering with multiple agencies to develop and implement highly integrated, multi-channel campaigns
  • Experience developing and partnering with Trade Marketing teams to create effective trade assets and commercial programs.
  • Experience developing innovation strategies and long-term strategic plans
  • Ability to motivate direct reports, agency & commercial teams around a clear directive and manage through with inspiration, clarity and consistency. Ability to inspire leadership to consensus to a clear vision.
  • Strong curiosity for digging into target lifestyle, attitudes and consumption behaviors and ability to synthesize these observations into powerful insights and growth driving strategy
  • Ability to analyze data and specific market information to simplify complex issues and recommend business actions
